Ameaça honda o Google?
O Google tem lutado contra a ameaça Facebook por algum tempo. Agora, a empresa enfrenta mais uma batalha, desta vez contra a Apple. Em um artigo publicado no siteMashable, Keith Teare, sócio da incubadora Archimedes Labs e CEO do site Just.me, levanta algumas questões importantes sobre uma das empresas mais poderosas da web.
De acordo com o empresário, nas últimas duas semanas os resultados de fechamento de trimestres de algumas empresas mostraram as tendências para este ano, além de reforçarem as necessidades de mudanças no Google, especialmente nas áreas de mobilidade.
O Google viu suas ações declinarem nesta quarta-feira (25/01), passando de US$ 670,25 para US$ 569,49, enquanto a Apple saiu de uma baixa de US$ 363 para US$ 446,66. De acordo com o empresário, a causa do relativo fracasso é que o Google não conseguiu bater o CPC (custo por clique) esperado pelos analistas e o motivo é simples: foi o rápido crescimento do tráfego móvel e o consequente desinteresse por parte de algumas empresas em anúncios do Google.
Segundo Keith, a tendência atual do crescimento do tráfego móvel é o responsável por quase tudo o que acontece no mercado hoje em dia. Consumidores e empresas do mundo todo estão virando as costas para os desktops e notebooks a um ritmo acelerado à medida que adotam os tablets e smartphones. Portanto, a dependência do Google sobre as receitas derivadas de pesquisas na web, provenientes de um navegador, já não são suficientes para garantir seu crescimento.
A Apple, por outro lado, está se aproveitando mais do que nunca desta tendência. As receitas do iPad e iPhone, assim como da App Store, deram à Apple um lucro acima dos US$ 13 bilhões no último trimestre, um número histórico para empresas americanas.
Por tudo isso, o empresário acredita que o foco do Google no Android é necessário, mas ainda assim não será o suficiente para contornar essa situação. O sistema operacional móvel da companhia dá a ela uma plataforma para celulares, mas não compensa o impacto da mudança ocorrida no tráfego da web.
Além de tudo isso, Keith vê o Google ameaçado pelo crescimento da internet social. As mudanças ocorridas no site, relacionadas ao Google+, são a prova disso. O empresário confia que a rede social é um bom começo, especialmente depois que a empresa lançou seu novo sistema de busca, o “Search Plus Your World”. Porém, ele afirma que a empresa demorou demais para combater o seu maior adversário. Assim, Keith ressalta: “o momento do Google tomar as rédeas dessa situação é agora!”
