Em 2010 foram comercializados 1,39 bilhão de telefones móveis no mundo, o que representa um aumento de 18,5% sobre 2009, quando esse número atingiu 1,17 bilhão de unidades.
A consultoria aponta que o mercado de telefonia móvel se recuperou nos últimos 12 meses, depois de acompanhar um declínio de 1,6% em 2009, por conta, principalmente, dos efeitos que a crise econômica internacional teve no setor.
Ainda segundo o levantamento, não foram só os fabricantes de smartphones que pegaram carona no crescimento de mercado.
